Konyaaltı is a district of Antalya wich contains a beach with the same name and a neigborhood at the west point of Antalya and which also have the same name. Konyaaltı district is composed of 10 villages and 29 neighborhoods. It is connected to Kepez District with Çakırlar Road, and to Muratpaşa District with Dumlupınar Boulvard.
The region, which is known as Konyaaltı today, is considered to be named as "Koyaltı" (cove under the cliffs) since the Antalya is a city that was established on the sea cliffs. Later, the name "Koyaltı" became Konyaaltı in the spoken language of local people in time.
According to the Anatolian Civilizations Map, Konyaaltı was within the borders of Lykia. Lykia is neighbor to Pamphylia. It is known that Lykia civilization survived till 30B.C, and the city of Lykia in Konyaaltı region was named Olbia.
The port of Antalya is at Konyaaltı. Konyaaltı contains lots of beauties of nature within. On a part of Bey Dağları (Mount Lord), there are streams (Boğa Çayı (Bull Stream), and Çandır Çayı (Çandır Stream)), coves, and lots of picnic areas.
The 7 km. beach that lays from sea cliffs to the Port Antalya is called Konyaaltı Beach. 4.5 km length and 70 m. wide part pf this beach is a public beach which has the blue flag signifying it is safe to swim in. There are parts where one can enjoty this beach freely, and there are other parts where visitors pay a fee to use the services...
