Damlataş (Dripstone) Cave found in 1948 after a dynamite explosion when the area where the cave exists was chosen as a stone pit for a port construction. This cave, which is full of thousands of stalactites and stalagmites each one of them is beautiful than the others, put under protection and researches began immediately. After that, cave opened to tourism. Damlataş Cave is the first cave that opened to tourism in Turkey. 

At the entrance of the cave, there are one passage length of 50m, a cylindrical space with 13-14m. radius and 15m. height, and also columns that were composed in 15,000 years. The two level space of the cave contains 25,000 m³ air. The temperature inside the cave is 22°C in summer to winter. Humidity is 95%, and constant pressure is 760 mmHg. The air of the cave is composed of 71% nitrogen, 20.5% oxygen, 2.5 per ten thousand carbone dioxid, and a little amount of radioactivity and ions.

After the foundation that because carbon dioxide level in the cave is 8-10 folds higher than the normal conditions and humidity is very high, asthma patients benefits from staying in the cave, cave has been visited especially by asthma patients. The count of the asthma patients, who stays in the cave 4 hours per day for 21 days, reached to 4 thousand in the year 2014...
