Gençlik Parkı (The Youth Park) was established in the first years of the Republic, on an area sized of 28 hectares and covered with swarms. There was a football field, called "Ay-Yıldız" meaning the star and crescent, on a part of the land that park decided to be established on. The construction of the Park started in the year 1936. The Park was planned to be completed in two years with allowances up to 600 thousand TL. The Park, where a part of the 12 thousand non-muslim, who has taken under the civil service on the morning of 22 April 1941 by the military police and named 20 Class Reserves, was worked on the construction, was opened for service in 19 May 1943.

In the first plans of the Park, there were a garden for the birds which may live in the weather conditions of Ankara, an outdoor public theater, a playground, a labyrinth, a swimming pool, and a 2200 meter length route for horse trip. After the visit of an Italian playground called "Luna Park" for a show in 1951, a suchlike of the playground was constructed in Gençlik Parkı. 150 meters of ferris wheel, and 45 meter luna park tower are still attraction points of the Park. In 1956, an exhibit called "Ankara in Today" in the Park. In 1957 two miniature trains that ranges around the Park were opened for service by the Turkish State Railways. Later a wedding hall was constructed...
